ABOUT OUR SCHOOL<< back
From the history of our school

In 1562 there was a school in Slovenská Ľupča but no more particular records have been preserved. It was a Roman-Catholic school. Another school in Slovenská Ľupča was founded in 1567 by the Protestant church. This school was closed during the governance of the emperor Leopold. In 1919 the 1st class of burgher school was opened with 39 pupils. Július Murgaš was one of the first teachers at this school and Eduard Mojžiš was its first headmaster. After 28 years, on the 28th of October 1947, a ceremonial laing of a basic stone was held. The school should have been finished by 1st Septmber 1949 but it didn’t happen. There was lack of material and workers. However, schooling was carried out. There were no regular classes in the school year of 1949/1950 because the school had only a few teachers. A headmaster was nominated Teodor Kaliský as a director of the school in Želovce and the new headmaster after him became Július Béreš, from the first high school in Banská Bystrica. The school grew during the school year 1950/1951 and there were 302 pupils in seven clasrooms. In April 1951 the school announced that the fourth grade pupils will have their final exam in a completed new building.
